Maputo is the capital of the Republic of Mozambique, and is situated in the extreme south of the country, with about 346.77 km² including Municipal Districts Catembe and Inhaca Island. It has seven municipal districts and sixty-three neighborhoods. Maputo is limited to the West Valley of Infulene that separates the city of Matola, on the east by the Indian Ocean, to the south by District of Matutuine and to the north by Marracuene District.
Maputo throughout it’s history has been ka-Mpfumo, Baía Formosa, Boa Paz Bay, Delagoa Bay and Lourenço Marques, it is a city since 10 of November of 1887 and has a permanent population estimated at 1.099, 102 residents and a floating population of about 700 000 residents.
Also known as "City of Acacias" and "Pérola do Índico" Maputo is now a true cosmopolitan city with various attractions to the visitors. Maputo City offers to the tourists important historical places, cultural experience and excellent hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, theaters and cinema.
